Print issue delayed

My computer is still not working, I am waiting for a power supply.

For those of you that read the blog but don't visit the forum, there have been changes. I have withdrawn the print issue from Steel Moon...Pete has left again apparently, if it was ever Pete in the first place and this is just plain bad business. I am sorry for those in the issue, but I am working on getting another publisher. I will let everyone know what's what when I have news. When my own computer is working I'll email everyone that was slated for that issue and tell them what's going on.

I am unable for the time being to update static, because of the computer trouble and my computer is the only way in. When I am able to get in I will replace the forum with our old one and take Steel Moon and Ragged Edge off of the site. The dedication will also be changed, and no matter what happens I will no longer support either site.

We have a lot of stories and poetry slated for the September issue, but that will be put off until October, as I haven't been able to get all of the works to the proof reader. The contest will also go longer, and I do have some contest stories for the site when we get back.

Thank everyone for sticking with me, I see there are still lots of visits to the site, I only hope everyone or at least most people will find my messages somehow to know that we have not quit. We get submissions daily and I respond the same day so apparently, even though the site says August, people know we are alive, well, and coming back!

Jumping Through Hoops

Last week on my day off I picked up a copy of E.E. Knight's book, Way of The Wolf. Overall, I am enjoying it. It's not normal for me to read authors that are published in the ''big press''. Why? well mainly because I just don't find anything that interests me any more. A lot of the same ideas are rehashed/repackaged. Seems like everyone out there and their brother is writing a clone of Anita Blake/Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Or the atypical ''ancient evil awoken in a small town."

The ''big press'' fantasy books aren't any better.

Of course, there are some exceptions, but it seems like I have to ''dig'' through the BS a lot more these days.

The same reason why I mainly watch independent movies, or B-movies more these days.

But, like I said there are exceptions and EE Knight's book is one of them. No, its not the greatest book I've ever read, but it is entertaining.

Yet, I can't help but notice something. Here's a guy that signed a major book deal, and ended up published four more books in the series - I believe he's gotta deal to write 3 or 4 more. And as I read through it I can't help but notice some mistakes that I've been led to believe are the cardinal sins of writing. Or at least ones editors like to get online and rant and rave about.
The one that sticks out in my mind the most is the fact that he'd have sentences that started with the first name of a character, and then the next sentence would start with the same name.
Also, instead of using ''he'' the author would insist on using the prorper noun, even though you'd be able to easily follow the writing without it.

I realize editing is a subjective thing, and that each editor is different, but it just surprises and rather disgusts me when I see things like this. Yes, the author has talent and has good things in his writing, but I really don't get how editors can whine about one thing and then publish something that violates these ''sacred'' rules.

I've seen it in the small press too, quite often.

Yes, no one's writing is perfect, but why harp about something if you aren't going to follow up on it?

My computer crashed...

My computer quit this morning. This means that I can't get into Static Movement at all so we are going to be stuck with the August Issue until I can get another computer and the stuff to do the site with.

To everyone who was accepted for the September issue (and there were/are a lot since I was doing a tribute to 911) we will publish as soon as I can get back.

Well, this is really stupid of me since I knew it was a matter of time before it quit, but I lost all of my writing, every single bit of it so let this be a lesson to you...copy your files, email them to yourself, anything but don't risk losing it all like I have!

Back Seat Writers?

So, this morning I had MSNBC on, and was half paying attention to it while checking up on my email and such. When they finally took a break from the Mel Gibson report (Don't you know that its the most important story in the world!) they had a brief report on JK Rowling and whether or not Harry Potter was going to die. Apparently, Stephen King and John Irving met with JK and are attempting to persuade her not to kill off Harry.

Now I'm not a fan of JK Rowling, I've never read her books or seen the movies. I simply have no interest in them. But I do respect her as a writer. But I can understand what it is like to be a fan of a series and/or fictional characters as a spectator. I think the readers have the right to be upset over the idea of Harry possibly dieing, and they even have the right to send letters, pettitions, and etc to the author about this matter within reason.

However, I do have an issue with King an Irving trying persuade her to not kill off the character. It comes off as highly inappropiate and unproffesional. Like standing over her shoulder while she writes and say, 'Tsk, Tsk...take that part out." As if they know better then her in regards to how she should handle her own creation. An editor doesn't even have that right at this point. Considering she's already finished the manuscript, and she has a brain in her head its highly unlikely that she'll change anything just because of these back seat writers' attempts.
I just found it highly messed up for two established writers to do something like this to another writer. Unheard of really and rather pathetic. If it was me I probably would have laughed in their face and told them in colorful language to leave me alone. I give JK props for having more class then that. LOL

I don't know, and don't care if Harry is gonna die, but that's not the point. The point is writers should have enough respect to not try and do what King and Irving did. I wonder how they would feel if someone did that to either of them.

Everyone seems to be enjoying the August issue of Static Movement. I went over to Ragged Edge Publishing - the Ezine and it's looking very cool too! My column The Fountain Pen
is back up too, go see!

John D. Stanton's photograph is well received on the intro page of Static, and I thank John for it, very nice. Lee Kuruganti did the inside (I still say it's a cover) and Paul Campbell will be doing the September cover, with Kevin James Hurtack doing October. I think it will be interesting to see what these talented guys come up with for the issues. Lee will be illustrating a story or poem somewhere along the way. We are freeing her up to work on a project she's involved in right now.

I'm experimenting a little with the format at Static Movement, and am going to have an entrance page that will take you to the story page. John D. Stanton is letting me use a photograph that he did for the entrance page cover, it's very good and I think everyone will like it. Then another cover by Lee Kuruganti on the stories page.

The August issue is shaping up nicely, it's going to be another big one. We have a tribute to Robert Brian Newbill, he died in his sleep this month and we thought it would be nice for his family to recognize this writer, as he's had poetry published in Static Movement.

We are still having trouble with people sending in submissions without regard to our guidelines but I hope if I continue to complain about this, maybe everyone will listen some day.

Time Might Change Me...But I can't Change Time

It's pretty amazing how much can happen in a relatively short span of time. I can remember when I first met Chris back in December of '05 and she was still assembling the staff and content for the first issue of Static. Back then there was a certain amount of uncertainity, expectations and dreams. I remember there was a bit of a panic when one staff memeber, I think the 'web master' jumped ship for personal reasons rather late in to the game. Chris with the help of some others stepped up and got the issue and magazine launched.

And now seven months late I look at this magazine and am proud to see that not only does it still exist, and has not only retained the original staff, but also gained new staffers, but has managed to put out a new issue relatively on time and presented strong original material that spans the genres. It is not uncommon for a new small press publication to bite the proverbial dust early on, but Static has grown in scope and remained dedicated to presenting a good selection of authors. Now that a print anthology is in the works it goes to show that everyone's hard work and dedication to the magazine and to the vision of what Static is has paid off.

Some small press magazines cater to a small collective of friends/acquantinces but I can honestly say that Static's doors are open to everyone, as long as they take into regard the guidelines and have solid writing abilities, and it is great to see the variety of people that have contributed to Static.

Personally, I think it is great to be involved with the people here at Static and their side projects. It is hard to find passionate people in everyday life, and to find genuine non-game players in the online literary/art world. But the folks at Static are genuine about the magazine and the small press in general.

With the recent rebirth of REP and the collaborations that will stem from that I think Static has a very promising future. It'll be interesting to see what changes come with Time.

Submission talk

Running an ezine is really (to me) like getting ready to throw a big party...and wondering if anyone will come.

It's not that we don't get submissions, we do. We aren't getting enough though, when you consider that most of them are declined. I thought it might be good to write a little about why subs are turned away, for the lack of anything better to talk about today.

Format: I work from three in the morning to about eleven. I'm really tired when I get home and the last thing I want to do, and indeed no longer even try, is re-format a submission because the submitter didn't bother to read the guidelines. We want the site to be uniform, meaning all of the stories need to have the same look, so it doesn't look like a two year old published them. Some of the stories have taken me hours to fix...and it's not fun. I like for this to be fun, so please for the love of everything good, read the guidelines and send accordingly.

Tense Problems: The biggest problem I see is tense. If you aren't sure whether you mix tenses or not, please go here and check.

Clarity: Here is another biggie...when you write, you have to write so that the reader understands what you are talking about. We are getting lots of stories where the writer is skipping here and there and by the end, we don't know what we just read. There are fragments (parts of sentences), wandering thoughts, thoughts that are random. Don't use flowery words unless you know what they mean and can put them into the story where they go. I'm serious, we have read submissions where there are all kinds of sentences thrown in randomly and if this is the experimental stuff...we don't like it and we won't publish it.

Timing: Are you being lazy and not submitting to Static Movement until late in the month? Do you want your story illustrated??? If you don't, fine, wait till the end, but if you would like for us to try to get an illustration for your story you should give our illustrators time to do one. You probably won't like hearing this, but our staff have lives too and they don't love to sit there and get something to illustrate two days before we publish your story.

Print issue: We are doing a print issue of Static Movement, and if it does well we will do another, if you'd like to be considered, you should be in touch with me...otherwise you won't be included, to be honest, I can't find everyone. If you don't have a story in any of the issues, you can't be considered for a future print issue either so maybe you should submit something.

Robert Brian Newbill

June 30 1969 - July 3 2006

<>I didn't know him at all, but I liked his poetry. One of our regulars, Theresa Cecilia Garcia asked one time if I was interested in seeing her fiancé's work, and when I did, I published it.

Whether we know one another personally or not, the death of a fellow writer hits us all hard, especially one who was published in our zine. He was only 37 years old, very young, and he was very talented.

You can see the cover here, but you won't believe how really beautiful it is until you see it full size, this is the most beautiful, crisp cover I've ever seen, Lee Kuruganti will be proud to see this I think, and so will all of the author's who are in this issue, it's so pretty!
I saw the first 40 or so pages, it's unlike anything I thought of, what a great job Pete is doing. I'm so proud of this. On and on and on I could go, but wait and see, I'm telling the truth, this is being presented in such a great way that I can't wait to have it in my hands!

Static Movement Online ~ Print

I have been working almost non-stop on the print manuscript to send off to the publisher, and now await size for the illustrations and then it will be in their hands. It's not easy at all to format something this large, and it's not perfect...in fact the publisher will be yelling and screaming a bit, but I am confident that he can handle it, LOL.

Submissions for the print issue are over now, we have enough stories to fill it. I'll be letting everyone know if there will be a second one when we decide.

Steel Moon

The dedication on Static Movement, the part about Pete and Deb...they're back with a new zine entitled: Steel Moon.

I am very excited about this, as they are not only good friends, but they put out quite a webzine, and I'm certain that Steel Moon is going to be a great success. For those of you who frequented their old zine, you know what I'm talking about, for those who haven't, don't just take my word for it, keep an eye on these two and it'll prove to be true.

They've always had hearts for the writer, and they haven't changed. Please show them your support by submitting material for them to consider for their publication. Click on the link to read all about it!

Well, something good came out of the hacker email...a producer/writer who had a story in the first issue has written a story that is shooting a movie about it this month. He got one of the emails, which reminded him of Static Movement and he sent me the story to publish next month. I think this is very cool, and the story is a great one, the movie no doubt will be wonderful. Good comes sometimes out of bad, but I wasn't expecting it so soon.

Still have the job...they made an offer I couldn't refuse.

Sales are up at the store, which might mean that some of the Jasper Sucks people, unknown to me have come in for a biscuit...things will settle down soon, for awhile, as usual. lol.

We've already gotten a submission (that's two counting the producer) so that's looking up too, usually we start getting subs later in the month...

brouhaha -

What is all this commotion? It's coming from all sides, everywhere except in my house.

A hacker sends obscene emails to everyone who has been with Static Movement from the beginning.

A moron in this town I live in "reviews" Static Movement saying we are a porn site just on the seeing of the cover...duh...what an idiot time this one has been.

At work I am handing in my notice, I've been doing a great job...in my position and everyone else's and I've had enough, I'm just plain tired. I have confidence that I'll find another job quickly.

Bad things come when I fast. I haven't eaten in 9 days, and the stuff is hitting the fan. I don't know why this happens.

Static Movement is doing well, and has been doing well with almost 20,000 hits in 6 months, I haven't had any hacker problems in all my time online, and even this was done through a board that hasn't been in use for a long time.

Why in the world someone who claims to have wanted to be a reviewer, one who was whining on his site that no one has taken him up on it would click and then get the entire site wrong I don't know.

My cooking has trippled the sales in my store, but they want to play juvenile games and so now I have to leave...it's all stupid, crazy and uncalled for.

Life happens. Sometimes it's good stuff, sometimes it's bad stuff...but happen it does.

Important message about hackers

At the end of this message is an email that a writer friend showed me that someone send him in my name. I did not send any email like the one below, anyone who knows me knows this. We are NO LONGER using the staticmovementonline email address. Someone who knows more about this than I do can read the email and probably figure out who did this...the ip address is NOT MINE!!! Right this minute I got another message from Paul...he also got one. I'm sure if everyone thinks about this, you will know it's not from me. I'll be contacting the police about this to see what I can do. I believe that I know who it is. If I can't find help with this I'll put a picture and criminal record on Static Movement and the names this person has gone by so that EVERYONE will know what they've done and why this is happening. Since it's possible that this person has also used my gmail address, I will no longer use that one either...just so you know, you can send to me at the gmail one and I'll read it, but I will use another address to email you back..but the static one is deleted so don't use it at all.

Issue Six

Half a year! LOL, well, I'm happy about it.

This issue is well rounded with articles, stories, poems, and an addition to Monika M. Segally's wonderful/addictive Novel "Quietly Crazy" and of course we will be adding to the comic Along the Chesapeake - by Adrienne Ray.

I see that there is a discussion brewing over the article Top Ten Bikinis in Science Fiction and Fantasy Films - by Brianna Kelly over at Anotherealm

I'm getting emails from the authors about the illustrations, aren't they wonderful? The illustrators have done an amazing job, and Lee Kuruganti did a fantastic one for the Bikini article. When this article came along I asked Lee to illustrate it, I just knew she'd come up with something wild and crazy...and she did!

All in all a fine issue and I hope everyone reads it all.

That was the score at the Braves game in Atlanta...the Braves won of course. It was great to be there, the seats were third row from the field on third base, very nice.

We are getting ready to publish the June issue and I really have to hand it to the editors and illustrators, after getting subs mostly at the end of the month, everyone has really come through. I think everyone will enjoy reading us in June.

I added a chapter to Quietly Crazy yesterday, as well as updated my column and added a frame to the comic Along the Chesapeake - by Adrienne Ray, I hope everyone stops over and reads the new stuff!

The zine is a blast for me to do, sorry about not updating as often as I used to but work is still making me so tired that when I get off I can't bring myself to do much...ugh...getting old I guess, lol.

I am sorry for not blogging for so many days...I've been so tired that I haven't gotten much done. I had the stress test yesterday and was so happy to wake up today, I really was worried it may have killed me. Those of you who have never had a stress test trust me, it is really tough. Monday I should have the results.

In the meantime -

Issue one of The Haunted Poet came out today and my name as well as my son Edwards and Paul Campbell's are on the front cover. This came as a wonderful surprise today as the first showing of the cover was without our names. The Haunted Poet also accepted another of my poems this afternoon so it's been a beautiful day.

Submissions for June are rolling in nicely, if you have one send it in to us.

Please stop by the site and read the two Novel chapters we published and will be adding to, one is by our Monika M. Segally and it's quite a story, and one that will pull you in and make you want more...Quietly Crazy.
The other is by a friend of mine, Timothy J. Donley - this is one excited writer. He comes to work to tell me how the story is progressing in his head. It's wonderful to be able to be a mentor. I would love emails or coments on the board about these two lovely works.

There is a new print magazine coming out that maybe some of you will want to keep an eye on:
The Haunted Poet The first issue comes out May 15th...and I will have a poem in that issue, as well as Paul Campbell, and my son Edward...very cool. Check the site for updates, it looks like it's going to be great.

There is nothing like an acceptance, it makes me want to write more, or maybe I should say again. I've been so busy at work that I haven't had much desire to do much else but sleep when I get home, but that acceptance was/is wonderful and so now, I'll be writing and submitting again. I had told my son that with the coming out of Issue three of Theatre of Decay, that is the end of my published works so with this poem making it into this print issue it gave me new hope for more published work...

I do miss the days when all I had to do was sit here and write, it's a lot harder when you work to find the time to do it.

We are in the last days of April and I don't have many works for our next issue, I do hope more will come but if not then it'll just be a small issue. With only four under our belt it's too early to panic, but I do want us to be a success, so if you know of a writer who needs a home for their work, please send them our way.

Adrienne Ray has done an excellent job creating a comic for static, so talented, we are blessed!
Two new columns are up by Paul Campbell and Kevin James Hurtack, very interesting so come see!

Everyone should go see the cover for Issue Three of Theatre of Decay, done by Paul Campbell, wonderful work. This is an excellent print magazine, fine quality and fine people running it, I recommend it!

Suspended account?

When I got home from work I had an email that someone couldn't get into the site, some message about a suspended account. I hate surprises, I had no idea anything like this would happen and have not had any word from the person who hosts Static for us. I am thinking that this is a temp. thing, like maybe a forgotten payment, but I don't know yet as I haven't heard anything.

A friend hosts Static Movement at no charge to me so this is why I don't know what's happening. I'm thankful for the hosting and don't want to put the cart before the horse, as in if I'll have to start over again, we shall see. I'll let everyone know what's going on when I hear something.

I won't put mine up...there are too many, I've had bad luck in this, but I feel it's good to have a link to point people to so I encourage you to send in your reprints so that you can showcase your work.

I'm back

I'm reading a manuscript by an unknown writer right now that I wish I had written. The story line is so easy to follow, yet the story itself is so complex, so interesting. I think about the story even when I'm not able to sit here and read it and I'm only on page 75 of over 300 pages. This is a story that the author wants read so we might publish it on the site in chapters unless I can convince her that it's worth the time to seek a publisher.

I'm getting a lot of compliments on Static and it's easy access...thanks everyone, I really am proud of the ezine and hope it can continue to be something people are interested in. It's only through the support of stories from the writer that Static can succeed. Keep writing, keep submitting.

Could not for the life of me think of a title for today's blog, so...

I published a poem from a man I work with, It's called Monsters in the Woods by Timothy J. Donley...hope all enjoy it. It's really cool to know a writer in person, locally. He is very animated when he speaks of writing and it's fun to watch, and fun to publish someone like him. He works two jobs, so he's working seven days a week...ugh...I never had the energy.

When we first met, I told him I was a writer and he asked (of course) what I write. I so wish you could have been there to see his face when I told him mostly horror and that horror is my favorite...jaw dropped and he looked horrified, LOL...oh me, it was a precious moment.

As writer's we think deep - sometimes that's a good thing and sometimes not - but one thing is for sure, there is nothing like a writer and I'm proud to know so many.

As a person (believe it or not) who has spent the better part of my life in service to the Lord, I've been hit really hard by having to move into a smaller place, giving up half of my things because they won't fit here, and quite frankly I would suppose that I am living in the wrong side of town.

I'd been sad to almost crying about it all until I saw something today. If I really believe what I preach, then the accumulation of 'things' here wouldn't mean a thing at the end of it all...what will stand is me, just me, no possessions, no houses, money, 'things' none of this matters on the other side. Not that you shouldn't strive for things if that's what it takes to make you comfortable, I just mean that success isn't all material.

All of this struck me when an assistant manager asked me today where I live, and I said I think I live on the wrong side of the tracks, and she said, "what difference does that make?" I thought that was very interesting...what difference does it make, I'm living, it really doesn't make any difference where.

April is almost here so get those submissions in folks! Yes, we will be accepting submissions up to the last minute for all those procrastirnators out there.

I've updated the guidelines to be more clear on some points. I updated my column also, just a little update but there you have it.

Things are going well with Static Movement, hats off to Jamie and the rest of the staff, great job! April might not have many stories and such but the one's we are going to publish are well worth the reading.

Looking for submissions for April

With April coming fast, I thought I'd mention that we are looking for submissions. No theme, that makes it pretty easy. I would love to have some unknowns in this issue...any takers? So far I have two stories and two poems for April.

I log on to see the stats everyday for Static Movement. Over fourteen thousand hits in three issues, people are reading - so how to get them to submit? Sometimes I'm sure it seems as if we aren't doing anything, but we are. There are stories in Smeerp that the editors are looking at and I didn't count those for April because I don't know if they will be accepted or not, but if you know someone who is a writer looking for a place to submit, please tell people about our little zine.

My column on Static Movement has been updated to say that anyone who had stories slated for the March issue of AstoundingTales is welcome to send that story to us and we will publish it. It was already approved there and we will take it here.

I know how it is to have something accepted yet not published because something went wrong...for the halloween issue of a zine called "The Writer's Tavern" I had a story accepted that never went up because their webmaster just went away and they are no longer online, not to mention a story that WAS published by them but, as I said they are gone. Ragged Edge Publishing had a lot of my work but they are no longer online. I had a story for Writer's Nook and Reader's Corner slated for their print issue...and then they decided not to go to print. I have stories in magazines that are so expensive that I can't even buy a copy and stories for anthologies that may never see print. I know the dissapointment after once getting accepted and not being published, so I offer my zine to those who were accepted for that March issue.

I said in the column how pleased I am with the staff, they've done a great job on Issue Three - I couldn't have done it without them, really.

I hope people are warming up to smeerp to submit stories, it's really a smart way to go for online magazines. I don't know how many times on Ralan's I've read where someone lost all of their stories, and then you have people like me who have to move quickly...and there the stories stay until someone can look at them, they are safe.

Static Movement...anyone around?

We don't really seem to be using the message board much, but it's okay, I will leave it there for now...it's easy, you don't even have to sign in now.

I haven't blogged in a few days, truthfully, my job has me so exhausted that I'm not spending as much time online as I was. All I can hope is that I'll get used to it. I'm doing the same job with almost the same hours as before I had cancer surgery at a different location, but it's really getting me down to be this tired after coming home.

I've created the archive page and links for February, and everything that has been accepted so far for March is ready, so all we are waiting for is for March to come. I'm wishing my life away!

As it stands right now, we have as many works as we did in the Feb. issue with more subs to go through. Jamie has done a wonderful job taking over for me...I don't know how I could have done it if she hadn't volunteered. There are more wonderful illustrations for March as well, and a beautiful cover from Lee Kuruganti!

Today the computer loads the full blog, yesterday it would only load half, the half that lets me sign in and post was the part that was missing so yesterday was un-cool.

Today I got a job, I'll be working from 3AM to 11:30AM so...the job offers naturally are coming in (now that I got a job) so I might take another one to make up for the time I'll be home to get things here on track faster (or is that quicker, Rachel?) LOL...I am thankful for the editors, they (Rachel) emailed me that there were some mistakes on Static. I have fixed them, we all need editors don't we? Yes we do.

You can see from the Blog below that we have gotten another submission from our Sci-Fi writer E.S. Strout, we hope he will become a regular. I was happy to have a Science Fiction submission with our new editor, that could have been embarrassing to ask someone to come aboard and then give them nothing to read!

People enjoy reading this blog, at least the one's who email me do and I'm glad...sometimes I think by reading what's going on with me, you will know your own life isn't so bad. I have to admit, I can't wait to say, "I'm so bored," it's been a long time!

I hadn't gotten any mail (snail mail) for a week, as the post office here changed the lock to the wrong mail box, and I just got the keys for mine today...there were no bills so I know something is drastically wrong, my mail has been misplaced again, I'm sure of it...

Meanwhile, driving the truck to take one of my sons to work today, I thought I had a flat tire. The wheel started acting like a flat, and the steering wheel was pulling to the left, then to the right. Well, there HAS been this noise under there during a right turn, but it quits so well anyway, no flat, we drove (my son drove, it scared me too much to drive it) and we did make it home, but it shook and carried on. So. Another problem. I need to quit saying, "what's next" because it seems someone is listening and then SHOWING ME.

Well, I've been tinkering with Static Movement again, I narrowed down the guidelines so that you don't even have to hardly scroll down to read them all, and I put the columns back on the staff and columns page, I think it looks better this way, but maybe I'll change it again soon, lol.

We are starting to get more submissions, keep them coming, tell your friends. I've been getting mail from people on Zoetrope saying that they are enjoying the stories on the site, I'm proud of that.

Guidelines again

Well, I changed the guidelines again, the only thing I did really was to make a larger font for NO PROFANITY. I was looking at some other zines today and found that they had different words in bold, you do know that if it's in bold then it is really, really important right? We are asking for submissions for March where the theme is Keys, and we are getting submissions but a lot of them contain profanity and I wonder about this since I can see from the stats page that most of the people who are sending in the stories have been to the guidelines page more than one time.

Am I old fasioned? I don't really think that I am, but I've been sheltered, people don't usually cuss and carry on around me. All that profanity has just not been a part of my life, I don't write it and I don't enjoy reading it. If someone uses wonderful creative words, and then throws in a cuss word it completely ruins the work. People say it's the real world to have someone cuss. Well, is it really? And in your fiction, whatever you write, is it the real world you want to protray...not. People read to relax, to get away from what they live every day - people want to be taken away. When you write, think about the reader, what will they think?

I used to have the most horrible dreams. All of my life I've had horror dreams, terrified when I wake up, afraid sometimes to go to sleep, but since I've started writing horror, I don't dream at all. Writing has become an escape. When I read, I don't want to see where I am, I KNOW where that is, I want fiction. Naturally, non-fiction is a bit different, and if you read the guidelines, you will see that there are some non-fic works that we will not accept.

Well, anyway...that's my blog and I'm sticking to it.

Well, I've updated my column over at Static Movement and am getting ready to publish the Feb. issue. I've created a link to the Jan. issue and am sorry to have to do this a bit early but I'm having to move and I'm not sure when I'll be packing the computer. It'll be easier if I at least have that done - one less thing to worry over and it's only one day early if I publish it tomorrow.

I have enjoyed this blog and will miss being able to write on it, as well as seeing everyone but I'll return as soon as I can. Writing and conversing with writers is my happiness, so this whole thing makes me very sad ~ hey, you all play nicely together till I get back!

The second issue is about ready, unless someone else wants to submit something real quick...we are almost there. No matter what you do, time goes so fast, and this month is already almost gone.

I got a submission for March today, using smeerp. I love that system and wish everyone used it, it's so easy. I have not read the story yet but I've taken off the name and sent it on.

I updated my column and hope everyone reads it. It's a long one though, three pages but important.

Science Fiction Editor

Chuck Turner has been added to the Static staff as Science Fiction Editor. I am pleased that he decided to join us, and I'm hopeful we will be getting lots of Sci-Fi submissions as enthusiasts have been adding our ezine to their links pages.

I am appreciative of the zines who've put a link up to us, as I think link pages are a great help in finding places to get our stories published. Sometimes I think publishers don't realize just how important that link page is. I spend hours going from link to link in my quest for publication and I hope many places will start adding Static Movement to their site.

If anyone reading this frequents a special zine, I would ask that you request our link be put on their pages. Linking is a resource, not something ezines should have a few of. (Unless of course it's a space thing.)

I'm very sorry too. I'm outspoken enough that if they decide to change their minds yet again, they probably won't include my two chapters, but oh well and who cares? Here goes:

I don't have to get an email telling me what happened, I already can guess. Someone said something to someone who told someone else and it got around to everyone putting in their two cents worth and now it's off again. Naturally, I wasn't involved in any of it because I am busy writing and trying to run a zine.

I was asked to join a certain messageboard and I did, posted a few messages, and here is an email I got this morning concerning that:

I can't tell you how I HATE these types of letters, and may I mention that some of the same people who sent me this belong to the group who WAS going to publish the above book. WHy do I hate these letters?? Yep, I'm going to tell you...

The letter was mass mailed obviously, because I haven't had ANY trouble with anyone and so I know it was sent to everyone on the board...and well folks, that's just plain wrong, and it's also high school. I wrote back and asked to be taken off of the membership of that place. Don't email me with other people's troubles, if I make a mistake or do something stupid, sure, let me know, but don't treat me as if I'm some part of the gang because quite frankly I AM NOT!

Why does all of this bother me so? Because I AM BUSY! Because I'm drowning in personal problems that you can't possibly have a clue about, but still writing when someone requests me to, and then they pull the rug out, and then tell me to READ THE RULES...are you kidding? I'm 51 years old for gods sake, yelling all around the internet about people NOT reading MY guidelines and then someone has the audacity to send me spam???? And all this after a personal plea for me to join? Please!

I just read over on another forum that Bewildering Stories has signed a contract to do print copies , their time travel contest is where they will get some, if not all of their stories from.

They are getting LOTS of entries, and if you'd like to be in the running to be in the book, you should go see the guidelines and enter...I entered two, not one but TWO stories that were NOT accepted into the contest...I'm starting the year out like a bull in a china shop, who ever heard of a CONTEST entry being rejected? LOL, OMG.

You enter though, it's a good shot at being published in a print book...

The reason I'm putting this link in the blog is because I noticed some searches coming from my headings, and I thought if people searched Boobies and got my blog on the book a bunch of us are writing, the least I can do it put something in a heading that might actually do someone some good.

The reason I know about who's searching what to get to my site, is because of the stat counter that is on the bottom of some of my pages on Static Movement, bikrpreacher.com and this blog. When I check it out, which is often, I can see what people are looking at, what story, column, whatever, and there is sometimes a link of where they came from.

If you know someone with a sickness, you might direct them to this column, will it help? I don't know but it can't possibly hurt, especially if the answer is there to make them better.

The reason Static Movement isn't where YOU can see it is because I'm changing servers...and as soon as I put the information into the place where the names staticmovementonline and bikrpreacher are...they changed it over and naturally, since I read that it would take 48 hours, I was not prepared for this. (I can still see the sites by the way.)

I'm the only one who can get to the information also, and I don't know what to do in the cpanel...that's where the brain for Static and bikrpreacher are -well, you knew I didn't have the brain. Anyway, what I wanted to say is that if I have to build the site all over again it's going to be awhile...not months or anything like that, not too long but maybe a few days.

Lots of you won't like this part, we are going to lose the forum - but the good news is that we will have another one. What's this, like the third time now? I'm sorry, but you all better use this one! lol.

Keep your fingers crossed that I can do this quickly.

Meantime, I'll update here of course, the saga of the Bartholomew. I'm cursed, I know it, but I'm fighting it with all my heart! Writers are great, I know you'll all hang with me.

Boobies, Buzzards, and a Coupla Smoochies, which I've written two chapters for so far...I won't say which two, as I don't know if they'll reveal who wrote which ones, but if you've ever written out of your genre, you'll know what I was up against, but it was fun, it's a writing credit, and it was done with some outstanding authors. Improvement? And the contest

I put the stories on the front page, and the staff and columns on another, I hope this is enjoyable and easier for everyone...it wasn't easy turning everything around. If anyone notices anything missing, please email me, I did loose everything and had to find it and put it all back for the staff, columns and all links. I think I have it now, but wanted to let everyone know to tell me if somethings wrong.

I have gotten two stories so far for our "I can't give this story away" contest and just as I thought, these are good stories. I think a lot of times we have a hard time knowing where to submit. I have a few ideas for these stories and will set about getting information to the author of both stories this weekend. Know I'm not guaranteeing acceptance anywhere, but I have a few ideas of who might like these stories. Send your favorite one that you can't give away and I'll do my best to help, honest!

I wonder. In Static Movement I thought it would be cool to make the zines in a bio links so that other people could visit these other zines. I also think it looks good.

I accepted a work for Feb. asking the person to send links to their credits so that I could do that...and the person wasn't happy. They said some of the zines only keep work on for a small amount of time, and then said some zines are not happy with the links. Huh? I love links on a site and would love people to put Static Movement as a link on theirs. It's advertisement, it brings hits to a site, and might just give some people ideas of where to submit their work.

I guess now I will have to ask every place that I want to link to if it's okay...I just can't imagine that anyone would say, "Oh, please don't link to my zine...I don't want people to come and read us."

I rejected the work I had already accepted, seems to me attitudes are not warranted nor welcome in this business, aren't we all helping each other? You allow me to use your work on my zine and it makes us all look good, but then if we can't get along, well, it just won't work that way.

It took hours for me to look up all the links in everyone's bios. I felt it was a good thing, and I don't think it is too much to ask, if a writer puts names in the bio for them to do the looking up...am I right?

We are ready for the first, just one more day! I'm really proud of everyone working on the site, "the staff" who really are the zine, and the writers. Wonderful stories, I couldn't have asked for a better line-up. Thanks everyone!

In all my years, all 51 of them, I've never given a party because I always thought it would be embarrassing to throw one and no one come. This is a big step for me, so I hope lots of people come to read the issue, and that writer's will keep submitting.

For everyone who needs a good year, I hope 2006 is it for us all, let's just decide to make it happen!

Guidelines

Guidelines

I made them simple, and I wish people would read them. I'm not mad, but a tad irritated. I went to all the trouble to set the stories, and find two reprints. The guidelines started out saying NO REPRINTS so when these works were sent in, the fact that we didn't accept them was in plain site right were people know to find them.

These two wanted their work in Static Movement so I've changed the guidelines to accept reprints but I'd like to know before hand that they are reprints. I am online reading often, and just thought I'd check and see if anything we had accepted was online, but I hope not to have to do that with every issue as it's time-consuming for me.

One guy sent in a submission with two stories. The guidelines still say to send in only one story at a time...I'm in my nice phase right now, being new and all, but I can feel the witch is coming so be warned, from now on it's likely I'll be sending submissions back before they reach an editor if I can see that you have not read the guidelines.

I love other writers, I really do or we wouldn't be doing the zine, but I don't want to do your job...when I was submitting stories, you never came and did mine - READ THE GUIDELINES.

Finally. Looking for better things in the next year.

I found a site that talks about web design, looked it over, read it all, and found that I've done well in most of it, but was supposed to have links to HOME and STORIES on the bottom, (were I put them) and on the left top, so I went in and added links to the top left to all of the pages according to that web design page.

LOL...I also fixed the Columns page, which had column spelled coloumn...duh me.

When the 1st comes and Static Movement is online, if anyone finds any mistakes, I do hope someone will email me so that I can fix it. I've read the stories until I can almost tell them word for word. I'm going to read them one more time tomorrow and then I've promised myself to stay away, lol, I often break promises to myself.

I've been watching horror movies all day, but before I get back to it, I wanted to say Merry Christmas, hope you all have a wonderful one.

Almost time for the big Static Movement opening, I hope it goes well and a lot of people come.

I added two new stories this week, to replace one where the author pulled their story out and another that I found out was a reprint. All of the stories that are scheduled to be in the Jan. issue are on the forum, if anyone's interested in looking.

http://www.cthreepo.com/xmas/ this is a neat christmas card program that Keith Graham put together. I used it today to send a few. For those of you who like Sci-Fi, this is pretty cool. Everyone that I sent one to really enjoyed it. It was probably double pleasure for the family since I usually don't send cards. Try it, if it goes over well, he'll do something for Valentines day!

Speaking of Christmas cards, Theate of Decay sent me a card, I'm in issue one and three, two is out now and go look - some of our writer's are in the second issue! I thought sending me a card was very nice - wish I'd thought of that. Theatre of Decay has a great print magazine, it's really beautiful for all you horror lovers, buy a copy!

I was so happy when I went in to the forum and found that my mistake had not only been erased, but a banner put in place right where I wanted it. I knew it could only be Keith Graham, from AstoundingTales so I emailed him and said thanks. It's great to have people who can jump right in there and fix things...I make so many mistakes! I'm really thankful, it's because of him that the site is even able to go on, and this was just an added kindness.

Fooling around...

Oh my, I crack me up! Still fooling around with the site...and messed up the forum, I just can't be trusted with the forum keys so this mistake will be with us until someone who knows tells me how to restore the thing. I was trying to add a banner, you know, like AstoundingTales.com has on theirs, but it is telling me over and over now that I can't. Oh well...maybe this means I got the big mistake overwith so it won't show up in the zine when we publish on the 1st. I can only hope.

I am really amazed at the great stories that we have lined up for the first issue. I am looking forward now to new submissions. I hope the next batch is just as great as the first one was. I think everyone who reads the issue is going to love it, it's that good.

I didn't format all of the pages the same. I started out that way, but just as pictures and illustrations add to a story, I feel that the type and look of the word does too. I really tried to match the print with the feel of the story and I hope I succeeded in doing what I set out to do. I'm sure some will wonder why, maybe they will wander over here and find out why the pages are different.

We've decided to go bi-monthly. It'll be a little different than most bi-monthly zines though, here's how:

In Feb. we will accept some submissions and I will publish them to the site. In March, we will have a full blown issue like we are having in January. This will give me time to learn more about setting stories to page, and give enough time to look over submissions. Monthly was ambitious, but at the time this started, I had someone who felt he could handle the workload, someone way more knowledgeable than I am.

Okay, full blown webzine in January, March, May, July, September, November, and a smaller issue in between. I'll also be adding galleries for our artists and illustrator if they would like one. Of course the columns will be updated as they are sent to me.

We hope this is agreeable to everyone. Stick with us, we're new and working out the bugs...and no one likes bugs, do they?

Christmas. I just had to say something to the people who might read this that maybe are a little sad or dissapointed. It's a day that will pass. I hear so much about lonelyness and dissapointment at this time of year. It's too bad that we put so much pressure on ourselves to get so many things for so many people that we let ourselves down. Don't get depressed, know that it'll pass.

It sometimes seems as if everything waits for Christmas to go wrong. A lot of people are having a hard time, but I just hope that they remember the hard times they've gotten through before and know they will get through this too.

About the site. If anyone has a link they'd like to see on the links page at Static Movement, please send it along and I'll put it up. I had some banners from some people that I don't have any more, go look at the page, and if you aren't there - send it again please.

I think the site looks great, I believe the people who visit when we open will be pleased. It's been fun and will continue to be so.

Well, just a few things left to do, find pictures for more stories and proofread it all to be sure everything is just right. The only thing left now is to put a link on the main page to get to the cover which takes you to the stories. Wow! The link thing is easy but takes forever, well, it took 2 hours today to get it all done.

I hope everyone takes the time to browse the pages of Static Movement. I've added some columns, changed some welcomes and even put my pic up there for your dart board!

I really do hope everyone likes the zine, the stories are so good - I just want to do the stories justice.

All Seems To Be Well...

All of the stories, non-fiction, and poems that have been accepted for publication are set to page....ha ha-ha! I did it. All that's left is to add bios, artwork or pictures, and double check...and of course at the crucial time, to link the pages so that you can read them. I'm pretty excited about this and doubt if I would be quite this ecstatic had I not done it myself.

When all of the trouble started I wasn't sure I could do this, and am proud of all of the writers because they all had a chance to take their stories out, but none of them did. I have to thank the staff for hanging in there with me also, and for all of the support they've given during this time. Now, all that has to happen is that the site gets published.

The submissions deadline is coming fast…you better hurry if you thought about submitting something, just two more days!

Now to go look for pictures…

Wow. What an awesome job it is to put things on a website. Over, and over, and over again! Well, I'm sure webmasters don't have to do it over, but I sure have had to. It's fun most of the time but some of the time it's very hard.

I've been making pages, and putting the stories on them. No link to them yet, just getting them ready for the opening and it's very hard. I've already spent what time most people spend on their entire site, start to finish, and I'm not half way done yet.

The illustrations are beautiful and those who have illustrations will be pleased with the outcome, really beautiful. I said from the outset that some stories will be illustrated, so far there are six, all done by Paul Campbell. Outstanding artwork!

Home again

Got home around 9 last night. It was a great trip, traffic was good and no traffic jams. The whole trip took 12 hours to get to NC by way of Va. and then another 7 hours home. I'm happy that I was able to drive the whole way there without getting tired, I can still do it! My son drove home, that was nice.

I'll begin working on Static Movement sometime this afternoon, though mostly it'll be reading files and things to see how it all works. I'll add onto this as I go with any good news. Keith Graham of AstoundingTales has been helping me. I was happy to see the new look he created and hope everyone likes the top, it's brand new and a creation of Keith's, he's so smart. I already had to call him once for help and I've been emailing him all day...but as long as he can get me out of where I mess up or get stuck, we'll be okay. I really think this will be fun once I've got to the place where I can actually get to the website to make changes, I'll get there, sooner or later.

I'm leaving in the morning for the trip to Virginia and North Carolina. I haven't driven on a long trip since my cancer surgery in April, so I thought I'd turn in early.

I spent today mostly reading online about websites and how to run them, and believe it or not, it's beginning to make sense to me. I do the bikrpreacher site, and though it's not as formal as Static Movement will be, if I can do that, I can do this. I have appreciated all of the emails of encouragement and want you all to know, this is going to happen and I wouldn't be surprised if it made the original deadline of Jan. 1st.

Important Note

Dan Naden, because of the time restrictions that he has, has quit. Since I'm going to have to figure out how to run a site, it's possible that Static Movement might, in the next week lose all of the information that is there.
I have a call in for help from someone who uses the same site builder as I have that Dan doesn't use, but they've not gotten back with me yet...if they do, maybe things will be okay, if not, it's going to be hard and long for me to do this alone. I've had offers for hosting, but I already have that. What I need is someone who can show me how to make the extra pages in sitebuilder, I already know the html - between my son and I, we can do that but I can't understand how to do the pages and I don't now how to add pictures to a story, but I think I can figure it out.

I apologize to everyone out there who's waiting for the issue, I know this seems stupid, and maybe when we lost the first webmaster we should have thrown in the towel, but nothing good ever came from quitting.

Well, keep your fingers crossed. I have to go out of town so nothing will happen until Monday most likely.

I'm putting this same message on the forum, so everyone will see it and emailing all of the writers who are in the first issue, plus the blog.

Something to do while we wait...

I still don't have a date that we might publish the first issue of Static Movement. Waiting for news has always been hard for me, but while we are waiting we can't just sit here...

AstoundingTales and Anotherealm have great contests all the time. Links to these two sites are to the right. I entered the one at anotherealm, and am working on one for AstoundingTales. Arthur Sanchez' usually starts out the contest with a story of his own, and this one is very good...go read it.

The trip to Virginia and North Carolina is still on. Ice and snow are in the forcast, oh joy.

Publishing Delay

There probably will be a delay in publishing the first issue of Static Movement.
When we started the zine, we had a full time webmaster. When we parted company, our senior editor Dan Naden stepped in. Dan has done a wonderful job, but he works full time, and has a big family. He's not finding it easy to get away to work on the site. As it stands now, he's the only one here that knows how to do what he's doing so we will probably be posting a new start date for the webzine.
I know the writers and everyone else who's looking forward to the opening will be sad about this, but it's going to be okay, it's just that the holidays are coming and I guess our timing isn't great - it was as it started out, but when the webmaster left, well, we've really been trying to do a good job, things have gone well, I guess something had to happen.
I'll let you know when we find out what the new start date will be.

We've been busy getting the first issue of Static Movement ready, more the rest of the staff has been busy, me, I've been reading and sending submissions on, and talking on various message boards like Anotherealm, Astounding Tales, and Bewildering Stories. The links to these zines are on the right if you are interested in some conversation. The Static forum is hoppin' and I hope even more people will come on over and participate in the discussions. (Is that how you spell hoppin' remember, I'm not an editor and I prove it here often, lol.

You see the little box for hits to the blog at the bottom of this blog? I can't help it, I'm addicted to statistics. I got that way when Pete Marsh would tell me at Ragged Edge Publishing how many hits my poems would get on his site. Not bragging, but stating a fact, Static Movement is doing very well, at 3971 hits in less than two months online, as is my personal page at 696.

I mention the stats because now you know why I'm a little nervous now and then. We are going to have a great zine, no doubt about that. We've had over a hundred submissions so far, and we have one other artist interested in doing illustrations for the webzine besides our Paul Campbell, and someone who does interviews with publishers and editors interested in doing interviews for us every month. I think it's exciting that people keep coming that want to be involved with our effort.

Our editors are busy reading submissions and it never ceases to amaze me how dedicated these people are, it's amazing how quickly they respond. Our new editor, Rachel Kovaciny is not only reading and rating submissions, but she is also formatting them for Dan Naden to set to page. Speaking of Dan Naden, our fiction editor, he's also now webmaster, and I think he's done an amazing job on the site. Paul Campbell did an excellent job on the logo, (on the front page top and side,) I liked this Static image so much that it's now on my desktop, an amazing illustration. For more of Paul's illustrations, you can see them on the forum, and of course in the first issue where he is illustrating some of the stories.

Most of the staff has work online, I think for the next blog I'll get some of those addresses and let you go see for yourselves how great their writing is. I'm not bashful; a lot of my writing is in my own website at bikrpreacher, on the credits page. I also put a ragged link, it's where I put everything I could remember that was on the Ragged Edge, the zine website before they went offline. Ragged Edge was my favorite and I'll always remember Pete and Deb...I hope someday they will come back. In case they ever read this blog - you two will be welcome to join our zine any time.

Our Non-Fiction editor, Shanna Tolley, who also edits Non-fic for Dispatch, is moving to North Carolina, where she has a new job on a newspaper. I'm going to rent a truck here in Georgia, drive it to Virginia, where her belongings are, and then bring it all to her in NC. When will this 12 hour trip be? Well, that's why I'm telling you, I don't know. Sometime within the next few days I won't be here to blog or do anything else, I guess I'll be gone for 2 days, so I'll blog every day till I go. So...from now to then, when you don't see me, you'll know I'm on the road - see what we go through for our editors? (I don't want her traipsing all over the country-side; I want her at the computer working, lol.

Here it is, Sunday December 4th already. Time is going very fast, but that might just be because I'm not young and looking forward to things as young people do. Can anyone identify with this time thing?

I was approached today by someone wanting to know if I would be interested in their doing an interview of someone I've been following for quite some time. Of course, I said yes. This is a person that I think a lot of and I believe an interview would be very interesting. Having a webzine does have its perks, meeting people is one of them.

I've had a very full day of writing, trying to meet deadlines and such, but I wanted to touch bases with all who read this blog and say that I am enjoying the submissions and contacts. I am also enjoying all of the people who are now posting on the Static Movement Forum, you should go read and join. I know there are so many forums out on the internet now, but it's really nice to see that apparently there is room for more.

THE OPPOSITE OF PERKS...WHAT'S THE WORD?

That would be the writer who thinks their writing is so good that there's no way a group of editors could be right if they say no to publishing it. Some people need to get a grip. At Static Movement, I really do strip the names off of the submissions before sending them out to be read by our editors. Every now and then I slip up, but those times are few and far between. When they say no, they have no idea who they are rejecting, and most of the writers so far are happy with that, they want to be published because they wrote something we liked, not because of who they are.

I will admit that there have been times when someone who is known has been rejected and I thought it might be bad for my chances at getting published, but for the writer who has made it into our webzine, I will not compromise, it's going to be done fairly.

Project Cancelled

The project with Ed Williams and Sooty, of Ed and Soots Writers Guild has been cancelled. This makes me mad, but I'll get over it. It probably wouldn't be so bad but this is the third project this year...good thing the end of the year is nigh...maybe 2006 will be better. What bothers me about two of them, (one I have no idea, the people just dissapeared,) is that they were cancelled because of other people. For the Ed Williams book, some of the other writers emailed the heck out of us all day, with 47, yep 47 emails and Ed finally threw in the towel. Well, Ed had a mighty fine idea that would have done well.

Putting yourself out there with an idea is always a gamble. There are going to be those that will criticize, and being a writer who sends out submissions and gets some rejections, I think we all know that. Always be prepared for those who won't agree! Don't let yourself get discouraged! If you write, do it! If someone doesn't like it, too darned bad! If you get rejected, fix it and send it back out there! Quit crying!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sheesh!

When I write, until the story is done, I rarely tell anyone what I'm writing about, because you can be sure anyone I tell would have a better way of doing it and my story wouldn't ever get written. As writers, we need to quit seeking the approval of every Tom, Dick and Harry. We need to write a good story and proceed to find someone who likes what we've done.

I send a story out, it gets rejected. I read what the editor said was not right, and if I can see his/her point, I fix it, and then it goes right back out there...I don't quit!

Static Movement has a new Editor

That's right, we have a new addition to the team. Her name is Rachel Kovaciny, and we are very excited to have her with us on the webzine. She was editor of a college literary magazine for two years, and we feel very fortunate. She will be reading stories as per our "How We Choose" page, editing accepted stories, and writing a column. Welcome Rachel!

Christmas is almost here...again

Already December, time goes way too fast.

I recieved my chapter for the book I was telling you about, it's really going to be a tough one to write, it's about...nah, can't tell ya, but I can say that judging from all of the chapters it's going to be a great book, and I'm honored to be a part of this project. I got chapter two, lol, why that's important I don't know but there you have it.

Dan Naden has been hard at work on Static Movement, I hope you'll go see all of the changes he's made there. A new link page has been added so if you know of some links you'd like to see listed, please let us know! A few new welcome columns have also been added, one from Paul Campbell, and one from UnityFlow.

The submissions are still coming in. I'm not sure about a true number here, but we've gotten a ton of them. It's been a pleasure reading all of them, it really has. The bad thing about it is that they can't all be published and I hate writing rejections almost as much as I hate to get them, but it's all part of what we all do.

As we've accepted stories and poems, I've been putting the story/poem title and author on our forum, there is a link to the forum at the right.

Today I tried to get the horn fixed on a car so that my daughter-in-law to be can get her drivers lic. test tomorrow. I'm told I'll have to get a new steering wheel. When you buy a steering wheel, you also have to buy a horn kit. Does anyone else see how stupid that is?

I've never blogged before, but I thought this would be a great way to update everyone on Static Movement, our new webzine of Speculative Fiction, as well as my personal writing updates. I am hopeful that all of the staff on Static Movement will be blogging here as well so we can see what they are all up to!

Feel free to comment on this blog, as well as send me information on what's happening with you. I'm always interested in what writer's are doing and where they've found a home for their works!

On the right please find the link to AstoundingTales, and go read the interview about Static Movement. I was pleased to be asked for the interview. They have a great issue for December, but then AstoundingTales issues are always great!

Some cool news, Ed and Soots Writer's Guild has brought together 20 writer's, of which I am one, to write a book entitled, get this, "Boobies, Buzzards, and a Coupla Smoochies", by Hal S. Heiny." Proceeds from this book will go to running the Guild. With Ed Williams and Sooty, this is going to be a fun project for all concerned, and hopefully the end product will result in something everyone will want to purchase for this great cause.
